Secret Item Party

Tell each guest to bring ONE relatively small, hidable item to the party. It can be anything from a random soft-toy to a ping-pong ball, but needs to be something unique and obviously out of place at a party (i.e. not just a paperclip).

As the guests enter the party, get them to write down their secret item (without mentioning their name) on a scrap of paper and put all the scraps into a bag or bowl.

When ready to start, display all the scrap papers showing the secret items (on the fridge with magnets or just on a table out of the way).

Next give all guests a blank piece of paper. Throughout the night have them slowly guess and trade info and investigate who brought which item.

At the end of the night have a reveal session. Winner is the person who bought the item that was least guessed as belonging to them.

For a real organized affair, the host can print out sheets of paper with all expected guests name on it and formatted ready to write down each person’s suspected secret item.

Rubik’s Cube Party

This one isn’t a bendie original, but an all-time easy classic.

Announce 5 simple clothing colours (e.g. black, white, blue, red, green or maybe orange).

Have guests arrive to your party dressed up with at least one item of each colour (i.e. black hat, white top, blue pants, green socks, red jacket etc.) and be prepared to swap clothes during the night.

Let the party play out naturally, with a timer that goes off every 10 minutes. Once the timer goes off, guests have 10 secs to swap one item of clothing with one other guest, with the goal of becoming dressed in only one colour.

Heck, this one doesn’t even need a winner, just try to get everyone at the party in completed colours and enjoy the satisfaction of a solved rubik cube.

Lose a Sense Party

This one is good for a smaller, more intimate gathering and where there is some other task (like cooking, or crafting, or team games) to do. Best for less than 10 people.

Prepare blindfolds, earmuffs, mouth gags, tea towels and tape. Mouth gags could be ribbons tied around your head for more comfort, or just wide tape if you’re feeling brutal.

Write “Sight”, “Sound”, “Speech” & “Touch” individually on scraps of paper and put into a bag / bowl.

As guests arrive, have them randomly draw from the bag / bowl to determine which sense they lose.

  • Sight = Put on blindfolds.
  • Sound = Put on earmuffs.
  • Speech = Put on mouth gag, or otherwise make it so they cannot talk.
  • Touch = Wrap and tape tea towels around hands, or tape hands together so that they can’t be used.

Carry on the party until the end of a goal (like following a recipe to cook a desert, making the highest paper tower in teams or playing a team building game like untying everyone from a knot).

Once the goal is achieved let your guests have their senses back and enjoy their desert etc.

Just ensure everyone stays safe and the blindfolded person doesn’t get hold of a knife or scissors.

Presidential Campaign Party

Turn your party into a self-evolving political mess by hosting an election to decide the party president.

Define how many candidates you will allow based on the size of your party. E.g. 2-3 candidates for 10-20 people, and no more than 4 candidates in total for bigger parties.

At the end of the night, or at a predefined time, host an election via voting ballot, then count the votes and declare the president.

It can be as simple as that, or you could add variations depending how you think your audience will play the game and how messy you want things to get.

  • For a young, rowdy crowd with confident personalities: add virtually no extra rules or incentives. Leave the candidate spots open to suggestion and potential presidents to come up with their own tactics and rewards. Watch the big personalities shine and see how far they go to secure votes (or rig the elections).
  • For a crowd that might need encouragement:
Add a prize for the elected president: A box of lollies, cache of extra drinks, decision on the ordered pizza flavors or funny dress up that only the president will receive and decide what to do with.
You could also declare that the winning president gets to make one party rule that must be followed by all. Watch them pronounce and shape their winning policy throughout the night to win over voters.
  • For a quieter, more mature, more mixed crowd:
You (the host) could preselect the candidates and also preselect a campaign manager as a helper for each. Start the party off by choosing who would make a good, charismatic leader, who would stir some drama and have good ideas to win over the voters.

The larger the party the better for this one!
